Allow Yourself to Play

Roleplaying Dice

Roleplaying Dice *

Play? I don’t have time for playing and fooling around, I have a business to run! Is that you? Or do you feel you’re grown up and are too old to just play and fool around? Did you ever watch your parents play? Or were they also very serious and “grown-up”? Did they worry all the time?

I want to break a lance for playfulness here, especially if you’re running a business or caring for a large family. In fact, I’d say you actually need time for playing and fooling around. Because playing at something we love, taking it easy and just relaxing from all that serious stuff is very refreshing. Just take a close look at the word “recreation”. Today, we use it as a synonym for relaxing. Yet it literally means re-creation. And playing allows you to create whatever, outside of any limits.

You can even play by imagining how it feels to reach your goals. Just don’t get all serious about it. Have fun!

Of course, you might have a family rule telling you that adult life has to be serious and NO FUN AT ALL. (Can you hear who told you that?) Let’s do some tapping, so you can reap the benefits of being playful again – and make the most out of the little time you have for yourself (if you don’t know what tapping is or how to do it, you can sign up for my free ebook next to this blog post):

KP: Even though I’m grown up and have no time to play anymore, I’m okay the way I am and open to the possibility that playing isn’t beyond me just yet.

Even though I’m way too busy to waste time on fooling around with anything or anyone, I’m okay the way I am and open to the possibility that it could actually be fun.

Even thoughlife as a grown-up is supposed to be lots of work and no play, I’m okay the way I am and open to the possibility that maybe I learned something wrong here.

IE: I’m grown-up! And grown-ups don’t play!
OE: That’s what I learned at home.
U
E: My parents never played at anything.
UN: They were always serious and worried.
CP: And they frowned on us when we got carried away playing.
CB: And that’s when I learned that playing stops as soon as one finishes school.
UA: Life is a serious thing, after all!
AW: And I have no time to play anyway.
Take a deep breath!

IE: I never play anymore.
OE: And maybe … maybe I miss it.
U
E: But I’m grown-up now.
UN: And I’m no longer allowed to waste time just playing or fooling around.
CP: It’s my job to be serious! I’m a parent! Or a business owner!
CB: But … I kinda miss it.
UA: Actually … I miss it a lot.
AW: Oh, darn. How I miss playing!
Take a deep breath!

IE: Playing … that’s just for kids!
OE: On the other hand … it would be so nice to spend an hour without a care in the world.
UE: But I can’t!
UN:
So nice to just do something without a purpose or result.
C
P: But I’m grown-up. I’m not allowed to play anymore!
CB:But I miss it.
UA: And I can’t! I’m not allowed!
AW: You know what? I don’t care anymore! I will play!
Take a deep breath!

IE: I allow myself to play again.
OE: Not all the time, but every now and then.
U
E: I give myself permission to connect to my inner child again.
UN: And I’m allowing myself to take time out to play.
CP: I can do grown-up games like playing with my visions and goals.
CB: But I DO allow myself to play again.
UA: And I choose to still belong to my familiy anyway.
AW: That’s right! I can play and have fun and belong anyway. Wooohoooo!
Take a deep breath!

Now, go out and have some fun. Connect to your inner child and allow all that joy, creativity and energy to flow into your heart again. Playing is anything but a waste of time. Playing is a renewal of soul and heart. So, schedule some play-time for every day from now on!

And … have fun! Let your heart sing!

Thank you, Andrea! I’ll gladly teach you EFT, that’s quite possible via Skype. I’m already pondering a Skype intro event. 🙂

Frauke, you should do a Skype tapping event! I’d love to learn more too. Great post about enjoying play again. 🙂
