EFT for the Criticism Shock

Shock

Shock

Let’s just imagine you’ve talked about a project of yours, a great idea, maybe even your business. Let’s also imagine that you’re full of passion, delight and happiness about your plans. And then the person you talked to stares at you and says: “That’ll never work. Not here. Not for you.”

(This actually happened to me.)

You feel like someone pulled the rug out from under your feet. Your heart aches, and you might even have a physical reaction: Maybe your hands shake, maybe you feel sick to your stomach. And you sense doubt rearing its ugly head in a big way. The joy and passion you felt just moments earlier are blown away. And you are devastated.

This is the moment where you should withdraw and tap, if possible. Even a toilet would be okay. Right now, you’re in shock and your body is reacting to it. And if this happened to you long ago, it’s still a good idea to tap that now.

Because this shock is stored deep in your body and mind. And from there, doubt and self-criticism can arise again and again. This is very sad because it can keep you from pursuing something that you loved passionately. Maybe you’ve even given up on something because of such an experience. And you shouldn’t have to.

The following tapping round will help you release that shock from your body and mind, so you can follow your passion again – and succeed in it.

KP: Even though I had the rug pulled out from under me, and I’m shaking and upset, I’m okay the way I am and I’m open to the possibility that I can let go of that shock.

Even though I’m stunned and shocked by those brutal words, I’m okay the way I am and I’m open to the possibility that I can release this shock and get over it.

Even though I am still shaking inside after those words, I’m okay the way I am and I’m open to the possibility that I can let those words and the shock go.

IE: “It won’t work.”
OE: “Not for you.”
U
E: I’m still in shock.
UN: Such brutal words.
CP: Such deadly words.
CB: They killed my joy and passion.
UA: And they hurt.
AW: And I still feel the shock.
Take a deep breath!

IE: This shock deep in my bones.
OE: This shock deep in my heart.
U
E: It’s still there.
UN: My body still remembers this pain.
CP: That’s a natural reaction.
CB: But I now choose to let go of the shock and the pain.
UA: I asked my bones, my heart, my nerves, my muscles
AW: and my whole body and all my cells to let go of this shock.
Take a deep breath!

IE: I choose to let it go.
OE: I choose to let this shock leave my body.
U
E: I choose to open a little door in my heart, energetically,
UN: and let that shock and pain and hurt and disappointment flow out,
CP: flow right out of my body.
CB: I’m letting go of it for good.
UA: I allow myself to let go of it.
AW: And I’m letting it all go, the shock, the pain, the hurt, the upset.
Take a deep breath!

IE: I now choose to regain my passion.
OE: I choose to fill my heart with joy.
U
E: I choose to grow into my projects and dreams.
UN: I allow myself to dream again, free of pain and doubt.
CP: And I now choose to learn all I need to make it work.
CB: For me. Here.
UA: For joy. For love.
AW: And this feels much, much better!
Take a deep breath!

If you still have stress left, or if the words still cause pain, go through the round again and expand it to include the specific circumstances in which it happened. Allow yourself to feel the pain and disappointment – while tapping. Do not dwell on them outside a tapping round. Feeling those emotions while tapping will release them, and that’s what we want.

Did this happen to you? And did the tapping round change anything for you? Please tell me so in the comments.
