Easing Overwhelm

Overwhelm

At a bet, most people are very familiar with the feeling of overwhelm. It’s a mix of fear and panic – and it stops our brain from working. As long as we’re caught in overwhelm, we cannot think constructively, and problem-solving mechanisms are not online.

However, EFT is a fast and simple solution to overwhelm. As soon as that fear and panic retreat, our mental facilities come back up and we can actually deal with the things that threw us into overwhelm in the first place.

The first thing to do in such a situation is to write out everything on your mind. Just grab a sheet of paper and put it all down there. Then close your eyes and take a deep breath. Feel that breath going all the way in and then all the way out.

After that, look at that messy piece of paper and cross out everything you don’t have any control over.

The next step is to prioritize and then decide what to do first. Choose to think in solutions, rather than worrying about the fact that the problem exists.

For every problem you solve, celebrate a little. Take a break, have some coffee or tea, walk around the house for a minute or two. That’ll refresh your mind before you tackle the next one.

And of course … use EFT!

Here are some tapping set-up phrases to help you return to a calm and confident state of mind:

Even though I feel totally overwhelmed and can’t even think anymore, I’m okay and open to the possibility of calming down again.

Even though I feel completely overwhelmed by everything I have to do, I’m okay the way I am, and I now choose to take deep breaths and calm down.

Even though there is so much to do and I can’t even think, let alone decide what to do first, I’m okay the way I am, and I now choose to calm down and find easy, good solutions.

Now, you may have to keep tapping a little longer. Keep at it until you really feel calm enough to write that list and start working on the first item.
