We all fall off the Band Waggon at times. Maybe there’s illness. A vacation. An emotional and motivational slump. It happens.
And the only thing that we need to do is to simply get back up and back to our good habits and productivity.
Except there might be emotions in the way.
Disappointment. Shame. Anger.
They are natural. We have learned to feel them. And it’s good to feel them because they alert us to circumstances we need to change. However, if those emotions linger, they keep us stuck and off the band waggon.
So, what to do?
For me, the answer is natural: Do some dedicated tapping. In fact, usually, just a few minutes are enough to release those emotions and bring you back to your natural centered, cheerful and motivated self.
If you don’t know how to do it, here’s a little video that teaches you the basics. (What is this “tapping”?)
And here are a few set-up sentences to get you started with this particular issue:
Even though I fell off the band waggon, and I’m so ashamed of failing, I’m okay the way I am and I now allow myself to be only human, and to get back up and move on.
Even though I’m so disappointed at my lack of discipline, I’m okay the way I am and I now choose to forgive myself and just get back to being productive.
Even though I’m so angry at myself for failing and slacking, I am okay the way I am and I now choose to love myself and get back to being productive.
That’s all there is to it. We’re not perfect automatons. We’re human, we have bad days, life happens – and we can forgive ourselves, give ourselves a long, loving mental hug and then move forward.
It’s allowed to be that simple.
